Westfield Stratford City
Client: Foundation for Future London
In 2020, Westfield Stratford City and Foundation for Future London launched the Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund, a five-year, £10 million catalyst change programme designed to create inclusive social and economic value for the people and communities of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. The Fund aims to help tackle inequality and improve life chances for communities surrounding the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the new East Bank cultural district as part of the legacy of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Informed by a sustainable development approach, the Fund’s community-focused programmes and schemes have already benefited an estimated 51,190 people in three years, accompanied by a robust independent evaluation system. As well as transforming lives for local people, the Fund has been able to address UK and global emergencies such as Covid19 pandemic’s economic, health and environmental impacts and Levelling Up agenda, resulting in further social impact and collaboration across the UK. The partners' commitment to social justice has ensured the Fund is inclusive, accessible, and collaborative in its approach to supporting economic development, local employment and communities.
