The Smiths Group Foundation

Client: Just a Drop

The Smiths Group Foundation was established in Summer 2023 to award grants to charities nominated by Smiths employees, which align with our purpose of engineering a better future. Within that purpose, grants focus on three outcomes:

- Improving access to quality STEM education and skills for underrepresented groups. - Improving safety and connectedness within communities. - Improving the environmental sustainability of communities.

In 2024 we announced the Foundation’s first awards, totalling c.£1m. The grants are truly global, benefitting charities in nine countries around the world.

The Smiths Group Foundation is directed by a committee of Smiths volunteers who review grant applications and determine how to allocate funds. It is supported by Charities Aid Foundation, a globally renowned organisation working with donors and charities across the world.

Smiths has partnered with Just a Drop to enter the Business Charity Awards. The partnership facilitates the building of four sand dams in Kenya which will provide around 3,500 people with a safe, sustainable source of water all year round. They will also facilitate income-generating loans which allow local entrepreneurs to grow small businesses. We are eager to see the positive impacts on the community and proud to support such an important cause.
