The JOBS Project
Barnardo's
Client: Amazon
Our partnership began in 2018, following a meeting at the launch of the Government’s Care Leavers Covenant. We shared a vision that together, we could utilise our combined skills, knowledge and resources to support young people to overcome challenges and achieve their dreams and ambitions.
Together, Amazon and Barnardo’s are partnering to deliver a transformative, sustainable and scalable solution to tackling barriers to work and ensure young people facing a range of challenges develop the skills needed to secure a positive destination and develop their careers. Amazon funds the 10-week bespoke project which builds up the confidence, mental and physical health, and all-round skill of young people prior to starting work. At the end of the project, the young people have the opportunity to interview for a job at Amazon or can choose to be supported by Barnardo’s to find an alternative positive destination. Named the Journey of Becoming Successful (JOBS) Project by the young people supported on the programme, the project is an innovative and supportive solution to tackling barriers to work and ensures young people facing a range of challenges are able to reach their full potential, no matter who they are or where they’ve come from.
