The Big Barratt Cleanup
The Barratt Foundation
Client: Cleanup UK
To make a tangible difference, the Barratt Foundation launched its first-ever national volunteering campaign: The Big Barratt Cleanup. This initiative aimed to create cleaner, safer, and healthier communities. Over two weeks, Barratt divisions across the UK—from Aberdeen to Exeter—organised and took part in litter-picking events.
The results: • 28 out of 32 divisions took part • 47 teams led litter-picking efforts • 432 employees volunteered • 510 bags of litter collected—removing 2.7 tons of waste • 100% of participants said they’d do it again • 98% would recommend it to family and friends • Volunteers reported stronger teamwork and improved well-being
The Cleanup didn’t only clear litter—it brought our teams and communities together, inspiring collective action.
This campaign was part of the Barratt Foundation’s commitment to grow participation in fundraising, volunteering and payroll giving by PLC employees – which we increased by an impressive 97% year-on-year since 2021. We are proud that 32% of Barratt colleagues got involved in charitable giving last year.
