Tackling Educational Disadvantage in Bradford & Kent
Vanquis Banking Group
Client: School-Home Support
At Vanquis Banking Group (VBG), we aim to help build a future where every child and young person in the UK is supported to achieve their full potential, contributing to a brighter future. We believe that education is key to social mobility and that all children deserve access to an education. For over 1 million children in the UK, barriers to education such as poverty, domestic violence or unsupported mental health issues, make getting to school so much more challenging. That’s why, in 2023, we invested £100,000 to support School-Home Support (SHS) to place practitioners in schools in our local communities (Bradford & Medway, Kent), providing support to 443 individuals to overcome barriers to learning and build resilience for the future.
This fantastic partnership was established in 2016, and is stronger than ever, evolving to meet the needs of the families supported. During the greatest cost of living crisis in decades, VBG introduced a £50,000 School Uniform Fund to help families in the north. In June 2023, this was expanded nationwide. Alongside financial contributions, VBG employees delivered aspiration sessions to teach children SHS support about the working world and raise their aspirations. Together we build a brighter future.
