Defender and the British Red Cross: Embracing the impossible together. Here for Humanity for 70 years.

2024 marked 70 years of partnership between the British Red Cross and Defender, making it one of the longest charity partnerships in the world in any industry.

This unique and enduring partnership has positively impacted over two million people in over 50 countries, using more than 500 vehicles, through generous financial investment and vehicles support. 

Currently, the partnership supports flagship humanitarian projects that range from using nature-based solutions to reduce the risk of landslides in Nepal, to training community members on how to reduce flood risk in Australia, to rapid deployment in the immediate aftermath of an earthquake through specialist search teams based in Italy and Switzerland. In the UK, partnership funding supported UK communities impacted by floods, house fires, and power cuts.

Defender vehicles continue to enable the vital work of the Red Cross around the world including six Defenders supporting teams in Morocco with their work in communities affected by the devastating earthquakes in 2023 and specially converted Defender vehicles making a difference in Wales and in Italy. 2025 will see the arrival of an NGO-spec Defender vehicle co-produced by the two organisations to best meet the needs people in crisis and the teams that support them.
