Climb the Capital

Client: Over The Wall Camp and Action Medical Research for Children

‘Climb the Capital’ was an ambitious undertaking which came to life in 2024 thanks to a brilliant corporate-charity collaboration. The event was born of the initial, rather simple, proposal to stair-climb one iconic London skyscraper. However, the idea quickly snowballed and, before long, two additional skyscrapers were added - both taller than the first - thus becoming a daunting ‘London Three Peaks’ challenge. In addition, the event became accredited with the Towerrunning World Association, enabling elite athletes from across the world to participate.

The lead sponsor, Liberty Specialty Markets, generously agreed to underwrite the event, ensuring that all proceeds raised by participants would benefit the charities. Furthermore, it meant that none of the charities would be required to invest anything further than staff time and therefore it was a risk-free undertaking.

Finally, after a handful unforeseen logistical challenges, the event took place on Saturday 5th October, welcoming more than 100 participants. The finishers’ reception in the iconic Sky Garden of 20 Fenchurch Street was the crowning glory, with participants and spectators enjoying a celebratory drink as they enjoyed views across the Capital. 2025 will see the event scale-up threefold, with the hope that this will become an annual event.
