Cadent Gas Centres For Warmth
Cadent Gas LTD
Client: 200+ UK Local Community Centres
The cost-of-living crisis exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic has left many households in deprived UK areas struggling to afford basic necessities like heating and food. Fuel poverty, worsened by energy inefficient homes and lack of local employment, affects 3.26 million households across the most deprived areas of the UK, with significant impacts on health and well-being. Cadent's commitment to addressing these issues laid the foundations for the creation of the Centre for Warmth initiative, which relies on a consortium of community partners to provide support services to vulnerable communities, aiming to improve home energy efficiency and raise awareness of carbon monoxide dangers. Since its launch in 2021, the initiative has grown to see Cadent partnered with over 200 community centres and numerous support organisations, providing critical resources, training, and advice to residents to help them build resilience in these tough times. With a total investment of £3.1 million to date, the project has already benefited thousands of individuals, with an estimated social return on investment of over £154.5 million. Looking ahead, Cadent plans to expand the initiative to 325 centres by 2026, continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of those most in need.
