British Red Cross and the Wimbledon Foundation - Helping communities in crisis: Bringing people together through sport
The Wimbledon Foundation and The All England Lawn and Tennis Club
Client: British Red Cross
The British Red Cross and Wimbledon Foundation have been working together since 2020 to support communities in crisis.
An estimated 200 million people will need urgent humanitarian aid by 2050, making our partnership more important than ever. The British Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian network, and the Wimbledon Foundation is the charity of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and The Championships. In 2023, we combined the resource and expertise of our world-renowned brands and, with support from the AELTC, raised awareness and helped communities facing urgent humanitarian needs. In 2023, our partnership: - helped communities during emergencies by investing in international disaster response, enabling Red Cross and Red Crescent teams to rapidly respond including the Türkiye-Syria earthquakes; - supported those impacted by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine through the AELTC’s funding; - built confidence and connection for displaced communities by connecting refugees through sport in the UK. This included running a tennis clinic for young refugees, donating sporting apparel, and inviting 280 refugees to experience a day at The Championships; - engaged thousands of people through the reach of The Championships.
We’re proud to work in partnership to help communities in crisis and bring people together through sport.
