All together, better - in our Coventry communities

Coventry Building Society

Client: 17 Coventry-based schools and community organisations

Our place-based approach to community investment targets disadvantage and isolation in our home city of Coventry. In line with our purpose - making people better off through life – we support people through all life stages, working together with our 9 partner schools and 8 core charity partners.

Our approach has three themes:

 • Better Futures – driving social mobility by building children’s aspirations and helping them to achieve the skills they need to build better careers.

• Better Foundations – building financial resilience to help people keep a roof over their head and food on the table.

• Better Connections – tackling isolation and loneliness, particularly among older people.

In 2024, the Society invested £1.9 million and over 8,000 volunteering hours in Coventry, supporting almost 17,000 children and adults in need.

Over 14,000 people experienced a benefit, with over 500 seeing their circumstances transformed, including:

 • Over 4,000 children with improved skills and confidence.

• Almost 1,900 adults benefitting from specialist, tailored advice on income and/or housing.

• Over 1,650 adults with improved financial or personal circumstances.

• 68 people achieved stable accommodation.
